Newton's Three Laws of Motion define how energy transfers through an athlete, ball, or bat. Newton's Third Law states equal and opposite reactions MUST occur for any kinetic chain reaction to be optimized and create BALANCED FORCE
According to the Law of Energy Dissipation, if an opposite reaction does not exist, energy is lost into the ground or redirected over a bigger body mass (by Protective Reflex Response). In baseball players, this ensures "braking" capacities are proportionate to energy loads - A SUBCONSCIOUS PROTECTION AGAINST BODILY HARM.

INTERNAL TO EXTERNAL - The 6 degrees of movement freedom that all human joints possess alots for an internatal to external rotation. Many pitching injuries occur when internal rotation ROMs (range of motion) overmatch external rotation ROMs - or vice versa.
CONTRACTION TO EXTENSION - Absorbing energy to release it - such as front knee flex (FKF) into front leg extension (FLE). Can also be opposite, wherein energy is released and then absorbed, internal rotation (IR) to internal pronation (IP).

Check out these two pitches from this young right-hander from the Rays organization. On the first one, he goes at home plate with his front shoulder, and leaks away from his back hip, resulting in a "flat” plane. On the second pitch, he does a better job of generating power with his back hip once he's in the ground. As you can see, the second pitch has down angle, and more power behind it. ROTATION AND SYNC - Rotation creates more torque, but is also utilized to decelerate or transfer power from the lower to upper halves. Syncing leverage point timing between upper and lower halves will optimize equal and opposite reactionary forces.
FORWARD TO BACK - Linear drive with a back leg thrust (or springing action) backwards. This not only spreads the lower half to create a stronger foundation, but increases explosive energy transfers - required in baseball.
