ELBOW EXTENSION is the analytic that quantifies how far out front the elbow is positioned over the shoulder (right before release). The more elbow extension rom - the harder a pitcher throws, the better the pitch plane, and the higher the breaking pitch capabilities.
High velocity pitchers experience major Elbow Extension and flexion due to elastic energy impacts that start with ground reaction force (GRF). If the lower and upper halves are synced to the front foot strike (FFS), then elastic energy is transferred properly into the upper half - and then into the throwing elbow.
Elbow Extension injury is rooted in the "sync" timing and whether energy overloads the elbow joint prematurely (upsupported). Weighted baseballs can upload the elbow too much if lower half support is not optimized and this is why VeloPRO training harnesses are the next step in velocity development - SUPPORTED VELOCITY OPTIMIZED BY DYNAMIC MOVEMENT AND BALANCE.
PHYSICS AND CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES PROVE THAT AN UNSUPPORTED ELBOW (JOINT AXIS POINT) WITH A LOAD AT ITS UPMOST EXTREMITY (THROWING HAND) CREATES ENERGY OVERLOADS THAT CAN LEAD TO INJURY. A SIMPLE SEESAW DIAGRAM PROVES HOW SUPPORT, LOADS, AND FULCRUM POINTS EFFECT THE AFOREMENTIONED
